The built environment is today responsible for ca. 40% of the global carbon emissions. Up to 50% of which may be associated to the production of materials (embodied carbon.
The WorldGBC estimates that by 2030 new projects must target a reduction of at least 40% in embodied carbon and be net-zero in operational carbon by 2030. For this to happen, the entire construction supply chain must work together and adopt innovative solutions to tackle a still rather conservative industry.
ArcelorMittal is proud to be part of the solution, with its innovative XCarb® certified steels (produced combining the use of Scrap and Renewable electricity) and the use its already mature high-strength hot-rolled sections in HISTAR® grades.
This combination allows a reduction up to 90% vs conventional structural steel solutions and a reduction up to 50% vs RC frames, considering the full building envelope. Are we living in the future?
