Alvin is Executive Manager (Market Development) of the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), an industry organisation that enables sustainability across the building and construction value chain.
Passionate about sustainability and the changing climate, Alvin is responsible for developing industry development initiatives that are aligned with the Council’s goal to champion sustainable and resource-efficient buildings. He leads the Council’s efforts in addressing the growing carbon megatrend, having provided local insights towards the formulation of the WorldGBC Embodied Carbon Asia Pacific Primer and was instrumental in the launch of the Singapore Built Environment Embodied Carbon Pledge, which has since garnered nearly 90 signatories across the built environment sector. He has also collaborated with industry stakeholders in the development of a Building Embodied Carbon Calculator localised to the Singapore context and has worked with global experts to make bespoke Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) upskilling courses available to Green Mark Accredited Professionals.
Alvin regularly presents at industry events to advocate for green buildings, firmly believing that green buildings must be more than a design concept; they have to deliver benefits to communities and end-users alike.
