Georgina Phua

ABOUT

Ms Georgina Phua is the Deputy Principal (Development) at Singapore Polytechnic (SP). She is responsible for driving SP’s mission to be a Polytechnic for all ages through collaboration with industry partners and agencies.

Her portfolio includes overseeing the Department of Industry & Partnership; Technology, Innovation & Enterprise; and the Professional and Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy. The three units comprise 12 consultancy and technology innovation centres, and the Continuing Education and Training (CET) arm collectively offers end-to-end solutions to facilitate enterprises in their company, workforce and sustainability transformation.

Under Georgina’s leadership, SP has deepened industry engagement and inked more than 25 Memoranda of Understanding with industry partners to co-develop solutions to support the transformation of local enterprises and drive technological advancement. Under Georgina’s guidance, SP supported a White Paper “Green Building Adoption in Singapore” with the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), City Developments Limited and Danfoss to advocate greater public-private partnerships as a vital tool to accelerate the procurement and adoption of green building solutions in Singapore.

Starting as an IT lecturer in SP in 1990, Georgina became the IT School’s Director in 2010. Since then, she has taken on various Senior Director portfolios, where she played strategic leadership roles in shaping the schools’ directions, nurturing management teams and grooming high-potential talents.

Georgina chairs the Singapore Polytechnic International Board and Live Well Collaborative-Singapore, and is a board member of the Arts House Limited (CLG of National Arts Council) and Chairperson of the Human Resources subcommittee of the Arts House Limited. She sat on the School Advisory Committee of Regent Secondary School (2009 – 2011) and the Academic Advisory Committee (Electronics and IT) of ITE (2010 to 2019). Georgina was also an EXCO member of Singapore Computer Society’s IDM Chapter (2006 – 2014), a member of the Applied Study in Polytechnic and ITE Review (ASPIRE) Engagement Committee (2014), and a Design Education Advisory Committee member appointed by the Ministry of Trade & Industry (2020 to 2022).

Before joining SP, Georgina had worked in the information technology, banking, and advertising sectors. Georgina has a Master of Science in Software Engineering from the University of Stirling. She received the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2017 for her contributions to the public sector.
