Presenter – The Human Dimension: Wellness in the Built Environment
Track 2B: Human-Centric Metrics for Green Buildings | Thursday, 10 July 2025, 11:15 AM
Sustainability in the built environment is often framed around resource efficiency and environmental impact. While essential, these considerations are only part of the equation. At the heart of architecture and urban design lies the human dimension: the imperative to create spaces that support wellness, safety, and a meaningful sense of place.
This presentation explores a people-centric design approach across all scales, from the broader urban fabric to intimate interior environments. It also highlights how, in the built environment — particularly in sectors like hospitality and healthcare — incorporating wellness requires intentionality in both form and function. Drawing from a designer’s perspective, the session also examines how these outcomes can be achieved in an environmentally responsible manner where human needs align with sustainable goals.
